Shiva and Jesus

Four of us rented two bikes off two Indians and went up North to secluded beaches. We were the only people on the beach. A turtle had been washed up, and it looked alive at first, but it was very much dead, its head moving lifelessly as the waves washed over it. Later when we left, the crows arrived and started picking away.

We stopped for chai every now and then, and had food at a restaurant with an extensive menu, but only really two dishes available. And it was only a fifth of the cost as it is here in European Beach Holiday Palolem. It was quiet and you could hear insects buzz in the jungle creeping up from behind, and quiet mutterings and murmerings from the people playing cards on the cool patio floor. One of the chai places had both a picture of Shiva and Jesus next to each other - both psychedlic of course - with a garland of marigolds hanging between them and candles (or were they electric candles) burning in front of them.
